Family History and Neighbors

I was listening to the church news podcast this morning with Elder Bragg talking about Rootstech and all the wonderful technologies available to us for family history. One of the things we are trying to accomplish as a church is to help all converts become involved with temple work in the House of the Lord so that they get a sense of the important work and are changed by this important work. One thing that I was thinking about this morning is how we can use this same work to help those who are not able to join us to worship each week. Maybe they don’t have a close connection with anyone that is attending or they haven’t had that conversion yet or maybe just aren’t feeling it right now. We can use family history work to help them see the grand vision and draw strength and connection from their ancestors. Further I started thinking about how we can find ways to bless their lives with other aspects of the gospel even if they haven’t yet made covenants yet. We can bless lives even if their isn’t a covenant relationship yet. Of course, the enduring blessings like sealing of families is reserved for covenant keeping members of the church but let’s bless others with all that we can.
